In Need Of... Abundance!

Sheep. They produce wool. They go "baa"..... Who cares?

I do.

I want to be a sheep..... Jesus describes himself as the shepherd... Who wouldn't want to be a sheep when it means u have someone watching over you as good and loving as Jesus?
He says in John 10:11, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep."
Jesus will protect you, guide you, shelter you.... Make sure you have enough to eat and drink.... Ensure that you are healthy and productive each day! Life so good! Love so great! Protection so strong! He gave up His life to make sure that YOURS was saved!

Why would we follow this Good Shepherd (in case you haven't figured it out yet)?

Because just before He said He'd give His life, Jesus said in John 10:10 - "The thief does not come exept to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

He DIED so we can LIVE. Live ABUNDANTLY.

John 10:10 is the verse that Sequoia has chosen to represent itself.

Jesus really has come so that we are able to live that abundant life. Full of joy, and love.

But we can't forget the first half of that verse. "The thief (satan) does not come exept to steal, and to kill, and to destroy".

I'll never forget that line from Lord of the Rings... where king Theoden says "I will not risk open war"... and Aragorn replies "open war is upon you... whether you would risk it or not".

The bible often calls people sheep, especially referring to those who believe and follow Jesus Christ! This is a humbling parallel if you have have ever been around sheep; they are not very smart or wise or strong:) Still as always the bible is true, and people are like sheep! The good thing is that we have a good shepherd as we read in John 10. "He calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out...and the sheep follow him:for they know his voice." We are not just a herd, but Jesus knows and calls each of us by name.Jesus gives every one who follows his calling all the best things we need; peace, joy, and love... but especially hope of eternal life and joy!
If you hear Jesus calling don't wait, but follow him today!
